Our Stranger Places

We will build ourselves a better world

A future for all and we won’t have to fear

for our home and our kind

And once we are done we’ll be leaves on a breeze

from an ocean no ship’s ever sunk in

We’ll be home

We’ll be free

We’ll be whole

We’ll be one and for all and for one and we’ll never look back

I tried to believe your words

I tried to be part of your dream – our hope

I tried to stand by you when they knocked you down

I tried not to let go when all went to black

But where are you now?

But where are you now?

I don’t know who threw the first stone

Was it me, was it you, what’s the cost of one life

when you wake up from old hibernation

We’re too young, we’re too old, we have long been estranged

we went out too far and now we’re off the map

Hic sunt dracones you said and you left me for dead

in the wake of a better tomorrow

We’re strangers to all and we’re left now to roam

our past in search of a place where we belong

I can’t find this better world

All I can find are not bricks but the stones

someone clawed from the ground

They’re still warm in my hands with the blood from a head

and I hope he’s not dead in this madness we shared

I don’t know the way back

I don’t know if there’s still a home

I don’t know what you said when it all went to black

I know I can’t go back

Not back, not back

I cannot look back

I cannot let go

Don’t want to let go

Hic sunt dracones you said and you left me for dead

in the wake of a better tomorrow

We’re strangers to all and we’re left now to roam

our past in search of a place where we belong

And we’ll build ourselves another world …

A new place to be …
