The Old Man & the Box (Pt. 1)

A man went out and to the river
He said: That’s it, my life is done
I’ve seen enough, my work is over
Everything I loved is gone
He took a step into the water
Felt the cold rush over him
But then – a tap right on his shoulder
Another man, a hand, a grin
This one now said: Friend, a proposal,
see what I have in store for you
A look inside you might find useful
A reason maybe to start anew
And in his hand a box appears
one look could change it all
six sides connect the world outside
inside there is infinity, a tesseractic space
I think you take me for a fool
but see: I know your kind
A trickster, devil – that’s your name
to doublecross your trade
You read a lot but knowledge is
not what you find in books
Your truths, your lies, your self-conception
It is all – deception

contraption – of your mind

correction – your desires

imperfection – it is you

Now see for yourself

just break free from yourself
put your old self to rest
take this chance while it lasts
And face – all you wish

all you fear

all you love

all you hate

free your spirit, save yourself

in this tesseractic space

People say you’re old and broken

It’s a lie – it’s a lie
Your heart is dead, you’ve been forsaken
It’s a lie – it’s a lie
You feel displaced and hope is gone
It’s a lie
And in his hand the box remains
one look can change it all
six sides connect the world outside
inside there is infinity, a tesseractic space
Your say a box can ease my sorrow
take away the pain inside
You say a box can bring back my life
and give a chance to set things right
It’s all a matter of perspective
there’s more to life than just two sides
You must create your own directive
Now take this step, embrace your right

And now he sees horizons fade
one look changes it all
six sides connect the worlds outside
inside there is infinity …
Phil?
